Scariest Movies From the Last Few Years

Horror movies are not everybody’s cup of tea but people who love them love watching them all the time. Here are some of the more recent treasures in our list of the scariest movies from the last few years.

 

The Witch

A farmer and his wife face an ultimate fear – the vanishing of their youngest son. The family suspects their oldest daughter, who was watching the boy at the time. Then, the two twin siblings, suspect their oldest sister is a witch. Delightfully terrifying.

The Woman In Black

Set in a gothic tradition, the movie features a classic tradition. The movie has been produced by Hammer Films and it showcases what horror is. The movie revolves around a haunted house and amazing fictional characters. The movie budgeted $15 million at the box office and $127 million worldwide and got a decent return as well from across the globe.

The Cabin In the Woods

The Cabin in The Woods is another modern horror film. This film includes and features samplings of every sort of horror filmmaking that one can possibly imagine. The movie features monsters and everything else that is related to horror. Generally, the movie is a good scare. The film also managed to do very well at the box office.

The Skin I Live In

Released in 2011, The Skin I Live In is directed by Pedro Almodovar and casts Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya, Jan Cornet and Marisa Paredes. The movie is based on Thierry Jonquet’s novel, the Tarantula. Its story features that of a scientist and his illegal human experiments that involve taking the skin of people to use it for burnt victims. The upshot in the movie is kidnap and sexual reassignment in some of the most disturbing two hours. The movie keeps you awake throughout and it is one horror movie that you just cannot miss. It is interesting, it scares you a little and it keeps you on your toes. And let’s just not forget that Antonio’s performance in the movie is worth noticing as well.

It Follows

Directed by David Robert Mitchell, It Follows was released in 2014 and it features Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist, and Daniel Zovatto. The movie has a great central concept and it never fails to drop the ball. The movie revolves around a mysterious entity that is somehow sexually transmitted to some strangers and in effect there are victims who get suffered by it. The movie has certain twists and turns and it gets even more interesting when certain teenagers are killed.

The movie takes you to certain dark places and it makes you remember what scary essentially is. It Follows was probably 2014’s best scary movies and we loved it for what it had to offer; sheer brilliance on the camera.

Kill List

Directed by Ben Wheatley, Kill List features Neil Maskell, Michael Smiley, and MyAnna Buring. It is a straightforward thriller where two men take an assignment to kill the people on the kill list. The soundtrack, the acting and everything else involved in the movie couldn’t be better and it is one of those movies that just keep you on the go.

Scary movies never go out of fashion and if you haven’t watched a good scary movie and a thriller, you could probably select one from the list above.
