Tonight is a NYC FILM MEETUP in NYC about Essential Resources for New York City Startup Founders, hosted by StartupNationNYC Panel! This group, brought to you by the founders of Crowdzu and the organizers of the Crowdcentric Meetup group, is for startup founders, angel investors, startup advisors & mentors and anyone with a keen interest in the New York City startup ecosystem.

The organizer is The Crowdcentric Network. This is the place for everything crowd-related. The founders of the Crowdcentric Network have 30 years experience in the entertainment and IT industries, and are currently the founders of the world’s first marketplace for creatives and entrepreneurs. We started this meetup group to bring together like-minded individuals interested in everything crowdcentric. We will hold regular networking mixers, and panels with industry experts and successful entrepreneurs so we can help each other bring our good ideas to life.

Expert panelists will discuss the importance of correct corporate structure, provide guidance on where and how to incorporate, how to prepare to accept initial funding and the procedures that need to be followed to be in compliance with state/federal requirements, shareholder agreements, cap tables, how to look for/approach investors, valuation, monies to be raised, funding rounds, how to put together an effective business plan or deck and what needs to be included. how to protect your intellectual property, accounting needs of startups, IRS filing requirements and much more.


Our panelists for the evening will be:

Matthew Zucker of Kelley Drye & Warren LLP. Matthew is a corporate attorney in Kelley Drye’s New York office who represents start-up and emerging growth companies in a variety of industries that have been or are seeking financing.  He provides a full range of services to these clients in connection with formation issues, employment contracts, debt and equity financing, licensing, initial public offerings, strategic partnering and joint ventures.  Matthew will share information and answer questions about corporate formation, fundraising, management issues and much more.


Kobla Asamoah of St. Nicks Alliance. Kobla is a Small Business Advisor in the Economic Development Division of St. Nicks, a Brooklyn-based non-profit. He works with entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses at any stage on topics ranging from business plan writing, to financial modeling, to strategy. In his three years at the organization, he has helped his clients secure over $3 million in financing. Kobla will speak about the spectrum of resources that are available to start-ups as well as general considerations for starting and growing a business.


Amy Gaven of Kelley Drye & Warren LLP.  Amy is a trademark and copyright attorney in Kelley Drye’s New York office who handles all aspects of intellectual property, including trademark, copyright, trade dress and unfair competition issues. She has counseled distinguished clients in various industries including fashion and entertainment, media, luxury goods, health care, pharmaceuticals and consumer products.  Amy will speak about selecting and clearing a brand name, trademark protection and enforcement and work-for hire agreements, among other topics.


Alex Chou, owner of Infin8 Enterprises. Alex, formerly of Credit Suisse, specializes in business development consulting, tax planning, and financial advice with a focus on helping women entrepreneurs and startups. Her clients include tech startups, film production companies and e-commerce businesses. Having moderated several high level, well-received panels in her quest to help and inform startup founders and business owners, she will take a spot as a panelist on our first workshop.


John Ason, an active New York angel investor. John has made over 40 professional investments in an eclectic range of industries, frequently as the lead Angel. You can learn more about him at


Albert Chcoury, Financial Advisor, New York Life Insurance Company. Albert offers clients comprehensive financial planning services, such as retirement planning, estate planning, or assistance in setting up pension plans for businesses. He will discuss solutions through which startup founders, young professionals and business owners can maximize savings and returns; while minimizing taxes and risk. It is never too early to start planning for your retirement!
