Justice League Eyes Director Zack Snyder

Warner Bros. wants Zack Snyder to direct Justice League

With Christopher Nolan out of the running to direct Justice League, Warner Bros. is reportedly looking at Zack Snyder to direct their superhero ensemble. Here’s an excerpt from an article about the Man of Steel filmmaker in the upcoming issue of Empire Magazine.

“Warner Bros.’ long-term view has been revised to embrace this new vision, just as The Dark Knight films resisted the commodification of Marvel. Whether we get a Justice League, they say, depends on Man of Steel. If we do, they say, Zack Snyder will be asked to direct.”

Director Ruben Fleischer, who was on the short list of candidates to direct Justice League last year, was recently asked if he would still be interested in taking on the project. Here is his intriguing response, which lends more credence to Zack Snyder taking the helm.

“Well that’s something that Zack Snyder is going to wind up doing.”

Warner Bros. executive Jeffrey Robinov teased last month that the studio will be making a big announcement in the near future, in regards to their upcoming slate of DC Comics superhero movies. However, since Man of Steel doesn’t open until June, it seems unlikely that we’ll hear about who directs Justice League, whether it be Zack Snyder or not, until mid-June or even July.

It is also worth noting that a rumor from February revealed the studio may hold off on Justice League until 2021, after sequels to Man of Steel and a proposed Batman reboot.

Justice League comes to theaters in 2015.
